Mean Twin (s)

Double the crime & no convictions – this is how twin criminals throughout history were able to get away with robberies, tortures and even murder.

By Emily and Aleksandra Georgieva

Crime cases are usually complicated to solve on their own but when the suspect is an identical twin, the investigations may seem like it has been taken straight out of a crime novel or a TV drama. Even in the event of a murder when the weapon has been found, there have been numerous cases when the involvement of twins has interfered with evidence and forensics.

Who is the evil twin?

The Most Significant Twin Crime Cases in History

Ronnie and Reggie Kray

East End London throughout the 50s and 60s. Ronnie and Reggie Kray committed crimes including arsons, murders, assaults, armed robberies and tortures.

The brothers were treated almost like celebrities and worked closely together to the point where they ‘seemed to be telepathic’, as the novelist John Pearson wrote.

Their mafia-style operations were successful, and the police only managed to convict both Kray brothers of murder in 1968.
